On Tour im Vinschgau

Traditional apple growing in the Vinschgau Valley

The Vinschgau Valley in South Tyrol, the largest dry valley in the Alps, is characterized by low rainfall, sunny days and cool nights. This special climate favors the cultivation of high quality apples. The orchards reach up to 1100 meters above sea level, Felix is located at 900 meters.

He uses bamboo to build his plantations and to protect the trees from the wind. He has also sown in the orchard to loosen the soil and fix nitrogen, which helps the trees grow.
